Oil import and export value calculator
Turn a daily oil flow into a period volume and estimated trade value.
Quick answer: Total barrels = flow in thousand barrels per day × 1,000 × days. 500,000 barrels a day for 30 days is 15 million barrels, worth $1.125 billion at $75 a barrel.

Scale a daily oil flow into a period value
How to use this calculator
- Enter the flow in thousand barrels per day (kb/d).
- Enter the number of days in the period, such as 30 for a month or 365 for a year.
- Enter a price per barrel and any costs or deductions.
A flow of 500 kb/d for 30 days is 15,000,000 barrels. At $75 per barrel, the estimated trade value is $1.125 billion before costs.
Why flows are quoted per day
Trade and production statistics usually report oil in barrels per day. That makes a 28-day month and a 31-day month easy to compare.
From kb/d to total barrels
Multiply the flow by 1,000 to get barrels per day, then by the number of days. 500 kb/d over 30 days is 15 million barrels.
Why official values can differ
Customs data may use invoice values, different pricing periods and later revisions. This tool applies one price to the whole period, so treat it as an order-of-magnitude check.

Questions about this calculation
What does kb/d mean?
Thousand barrels per day. 1,000 kb/d equals 1 million barrels per day.
Why does my result differ from official trade statistics?
Official figures can use monthly average prices, invoice values, different crude grades and revised volumes. This calculator uses one flow and one price.
